I will be away from the Diocese from February 16th to 20th on a study leave. I will be participating in a pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine with the Dean and other clergy from our Diocese; along with clergy from the Church of England. During my study leave, The Venerable James W. Bennett, Archdeacon of Montreal, will be my commissary.

I invite you and encourage you to attend a joint service of worship to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue in Canada. A liturgical celebration to mark forty years of Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue in Canada will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 4 pm in the basilica of St Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. Mgr Thomas Dowd, newly ordained auxiliary bishop will represent Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Montreal, and the both of us will co-preside.

Autumn is one of my most favourite seasons of the year; the magnificent fall colors are breathtaking and the rich harvest of pumpkins, squash, fruits and vegetables speak to me of God’s generosity. My soul is filled with the words of the above hymn and the psalms. It touches my spirit with these words:
“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
The world, and all those who live in it;
For he has founded it on the seas,
And established it on the rivers.” (Ps 24)

I write to you today a mere three weeks after my return from what can only be described as humbling and overwhelming experience. Archdeacon Janet Griffith and I spent a little over two weeks visiting our companion diocese of Masasi in the Anglican Church of Tanzania.
