Diocesan PWRDF Lenten Project / Decolonizing Fundraising

With each new discovery of unmarked graves and stories heard, we have become more aware of what it means to recognize past horrors and work towards reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in this land. We are also learning what it means, for most of us in this diocese to be settlers and implicated in colonialism and ways we continue to perpetuate it. PWRDF has developed a program to help break this cycle: the Indigenous Responsive Grants. The PWRDF Montreal unit chose this as our 2022-2023 Diocesan PWRDF project as a way of doing something important together. We would like to encourage individuals and parishes/ministries to consider using Lent as a time to raise awareness and funds. Read more here et ici. Flyer Eng. Flyer French. Poster French.

Dio offers Intensive course focused on French-language skills for Christian ministry Spring 2023

This course is centered around enhancing French linguistic and communication skills for pastoral contexts. This includes grammar revision, the sharing of French resources such as church and biblical vocabulary, preparation of prayers, and role playing pastoral care situations. Participants may take this course as part of the Certificate in Bilingual Ministry or as a stand-alone continuing education course. At the end of the week, there is an oral and written test leading to the Certificate in Bilingual Ministry for those enrolled in the certificate program.

All applicants should take a French level test (oral and written) during the academic year in order to confirm their language skills (intermediate, at least) or to discuss with our French teacher the best way to prepare for the intensive week if they do not yet have the required level.

About: This fourth annual celebration of Black Heritage will be an opportunity for the whole diocese to come together for racial healing and love and to celebrate the dignity of every human being. We will gather in worship at 11:00 am to celebrate:

Black Diversity
Black Culture
Black Voices
Black Brilliance
Black beauty
and music!

The service will be preceded by Coffee, Croissants and Conference in Fulford at 9.30: This panel discussion will be an opportunity to explore what a post-colonial world would look like. To reflect on the past, present and future and how our churches can better reach out and support our neighbours. A chance for black people to share thoughts and stories and for white people to listen. Only by learning from and celebrating each other will we be freed to move into a more loving, life-giving and just future.

----------------------------------

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2023

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a time when Christians of different denominations come together to pray for unity among all believers in Jesus Christ. It is an ecumenical event that is open to people of all denominations, and it is an opportunity to celebrate the unity that already exists among Christians and to pray for greater unity in the future.

Resources

At least once a year, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21). Hearts are touched and Christians come together to pray for their unity. Congregations and parishes all over the world exchange preachers or arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services. The event that touches off this special experience is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (Read More…)
